Images of the Month (September)
We look back at our favourite images of the month of September
This compelling monochrome snap is of 70-year-old surfer Andrew Forrest whose adventures have recently been documented in photographic journal ‘The Silver Surfer’. Written by creative director and former Speak client Jon Herbert – with a little help from our editorial team – the beautifully produced book is currently open for backing at Crowdfunder.
Speak producer Aurore and managing editor Laura headed to the studio to record the latest episode of our new podcast series for Parkinson’s Life magazine. The fourth episode brought together Lisbon-based physiotherapist Josefa Domingos and her patient Idelta Oliveira. In a heart-warming and insightful discussion, they explain how introducing a new Parkinson’s assessment tool into their appointments has brought them closer together.
Speak director Paul Williams appeared on the judging panel for a Dragon’s Den-style event by ‘You Make It’ – a women’s employment charity who we’re delighted to be supporting. The evening saw 10 young women pitch their startup ideas – from a clothing range fusing African fabrics and European style to a graphic novel exploring the issues facing young black women.
Paul said: “It’s clear to see the positive impact ‘You Make It’ is having on this group of women, and naturally we’re keen to support organisations such as theirs wherever we can.”
