Speak launches the Parkinson’s Life podcast


Listen up! Our award-winning online magazine for the global Parkinson’s community now has its own podcast.

Speak Media today launches a new podcast series for our award-winning Parkinson’s Life magazine – published in partnership with our longstanding partner, the European Parkinson’s Disease Association (EPDA). 

The move is the latest media innovation aimed at building the charity’s engagement with relevant audiences, from those living with the condition to carers and health professionals.

Each episode of the Parkinson’s podcast will bring together two people with the condition from around the world to discuss the topics that matter to them. The first episode looks at parenting with Parkinson’s, featuring an insightful and moving discussion between US blogger Allison Toepperwein and Canada-based broadcaster Larry Gifford.

Laura Smith, editorial manager at Speak Media, said: “It was important to us that the podcast created a space for people with Parkinson’s to talk to each other, since they’re the experts.  

“We hope this episode – and future ones – will offer somewhere for those whose lives have been impacted by Parkinson's to talk honestly and openly about what it's like in a way that's helpful to others in a similar position.”

It’s been four years since we launched Parkinson’s Life – an online magazine offering personal perspectives from people with the condition, expert opinions, research updates and more.  

So far, the magazine and its associated channels – including a free weekly e-newsletter – has attracted over 500,000 visitors from 224 countries, 8,000 social media followers and more than 5,000 subscribers.
